A private concert in the home of Irvin Mayfield, Jr. in New Orleans, LA with The Ellis Marsalis Quartet - Sir Ellis Marsalis (piano), Derek Douget (tenor/soprano saxophones) and Jason Stewart (acoustic bass) - sometime around JazzFest, May 2014. This would be a monumental gig for me, because I would meet Mr. Marsalis for the first time sitting in on piano at this home just 2 years prior, and the first time seeing him play live with his quartet was one of the most special occasions of my life. It was also the first time I played piano with Jason Marsalis on drums, so to be back here as a member of the band - Worth more than gold.
Sir Donald "Big Chief" Harrison, Jr. came up from a tour with one of my favorite bands, The Cookers, to play quartet with me at Middle C in Charlotte, NC. I am always honored for his friendship and mentorship, and that I got to play piano in his band for years, and also piano alongside him in The Headhunters band for over 2 years.
